Can the remote playerPlayStation PortalTM Midnight Black remote player only be used via the home Wi-Fi network? 

The home Wi-Fi network is a great solution to use the remote playerPlayStation PortalTM Midnight Black as you have control over Wi-Fi quality, but it is not a necessary requirement. The remote playerPlayStation PortalTM can be used wherever you can access the Wi-Fi broadband Internet connection with at least 5 Mbps*. For better gaming experience, we recommend a high-speed connection of at least 15 Mbps. If you use a public Wi-Fi network, please note that you may not have control over the quality of the Internet connection and this may affect your gaming experience.

Is a PlayStation Plus subscription required to use the remote playerPlayStation PortalTM Midnight Black and PlayStation® Remote Play remote?

No, the remote player PlayStation PortalTM Midnight Black and PlayStation® Remote Play does not require a PlayStation Plus** subscription.
